A Happy New Year to all of our community partners. This is our third community newsletter for the 23/24 academic year, so sit back and enjoy a few of our exciting updates.

Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) consultation

Here at CVCL, we are working towards creating a package of inclusive and accessible accredited qualifications. Did you know that we offer a range of ILM qualifications, with some qualifications starting at various points throughout the year? You can find out more information about our ILM qualifications on our website.

ILM level 5 in coaching and mentoring

Does your role involve coaching or mentoring? Our next ILM Level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring will be starting in March 2024. This course will allow you to get an understanding of the role and responsibilities of the workplace coach and mentor. It will provide an understanding of how coaching and mentoring can impact an organisation.  It will also assess skills, behaviours and knowledge as a coach and mentor.

New webpage

CVCL have now been brought in house onto UCLan’s website. On CVCL’s webpage you can find information about CVCL, our projects, research and our news and stories. There is also an area dedicated to community organisations. This explains how you can work with us. So, if your ever in doubt, then check it out.

Celebration event

In spring 2024, students and community volunteers and leaders from across Lancashire will be recognised for their achievements at CVCL’s annual celebration event. Hosted at UCLan, this year’s award ceremony is likely to be just as spectacular as previous years.

In 2023, we celebrated the following community successes:

Festive give n go

In December 2023, CVCL coordinated a fundraiser across our Preston and Burnley campuses to support students facing cost of living challenges. Students were able to access food, household products and toiletries donated by UCLan colleagues. CVCL collaborated with a number of community organisations during the student collection days.  This ensured that effective signposting support was also provided. 124 students benefited from the Festive Give n Go Fundraiser and special thanks goes to: Salvation Army Preston, Samaritans Preston, Preston Council (on behalf on Help in Preston), Community Grocery Burnley, Down Town in Burnley and Samaritans Burnley.
