We have a number of centres, institutions and projects across the University. They provide support to students, the community and business organisations.

  • Centre of Austronesian Studies

  • Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership

  • CHESS

    We are the Consortium of Higher Education Support Services with Deaf Students (CHESS). Our mission is to increase choice, access and quality of provision for deaf and hard of hearing students entering and studying in Higher Education.

  • Confucius Institute

    We aim to give learners a unique taste of Chinese culture as well as valuable opportunities to learn Mandarin Chinese.

  • Doctoral Training Centre for Industry Collaboration

    In 2022, the University of Central Lancashire established the Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) for Industry Collaboration.

  • Institute for Japanese Studies

    The Institute for Japanese Studies (IJS) is a cultural and research based interdisciplinary institute established in January 2021.

  • International Institute of Korean Studies

    The International Institute of Korean Studies UCLan is a multidisciplinary hub of research & public policy, leading the way in the study of the two Koreas.

  • Language Academy

    We offer a range of academic and professional English courses for non-native speakers of English. We also offer training for those seeking to teach English to speakers of other languages.

  • National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine

    The National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine (NCRRM) provides education and training to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to provide gold standard care in remote and rural locations locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Northern England Policy Centre for the Asia Pacific

    The Northern England Policy Centre for the Asia Pacific (NEPCAP) aims to maximise research impact in fields of study related issues in the Asia Pacific region.

  • Northern Institute of Taiwan Studies

    The Northern Institute of Taiwan Studies (NorITS) is an interdisciplinary hub of teaching, research, public policy and cultural activities.

    UCLan PROTECT brings together highly experienced professionals from across our many academic departments to provide plans, processes and skills development to support emergency/crisis management and organisational resilience

  • Social work and social care centre for CPD

    Our Centre for CPD offers continuing development training and education for social work and social care practitioners in the UK. It is founded on our high academic standards, strong values and ethics of social work and social care practice.

Research centres

Our research centres help us grow and develop our research activity in diverse areas. They provide a vibrant and active environment to nurture our early career researchers. We want to attract collaborators who can contribute to, and benefit from, the impact of the research.
