This module will consider the provision of construction knowledge necessary to develop a greater awareness of the technology involved in the construction of framed buildings and multi-storey developments including a focus on material technology and structural analysis.

This module investigates the integration of building services in medium and high rise structures. You will study sustainable energy generation and monitoring techniques. You will learn about building services science and the requirements of high rise buildings.

On this module you'll become critically aware of the cost implications of resource allocation in construction procurement. You'll look at the factors involved in the identification and pricing of construction work both at the tender stage and during the construction period.

The module aims, in the context of standard form contracts, to examine the contractual provisions which govern the administration and management of construction and engineering projects.

You'll receive an introduction to project management systems, through identification, co-ordination, integration and analysis of construction project resources. You'll investigate sustainable and safe approaches to construction in the planning and management of site activities and resources.

This module introduces the processes necessary for the effective management of occupational health, safety and welfare in the workplace. Develop the principles for the identification and control of hazards, the monitoring, control and management of safety and health risks within the relevant health and safety legislative framework.

In this module you will be introduced to an integrated project scenario. The Professional Practice module considers project design and organisation with respect to the requirements of the construction professional in the project planning and programme process.

This module will focus on the role and responsibilities of becoming a project manager. You will learn leadership and organisation skills essential to the role and understand the range of operational activities including analytical monitoring and controlling techniques.

Analyse and appraise systems of financial management within the Construction Industry. This includes the compilation and assessment of claims, budgets and costing systems. Learn how construction performance can be planned, monitored and evaluated within an economic framework.

This module is designed to acquaint you with the overall concept of “a project” by considering its phases and constituent parts from inception to completion. The analysis and appraisal of the project will be considered in relation to the four aspects of Whole Life-Cycle Appraisal: Project Design Appraisal, Project Value Appraisal, Project Cost Appraisal and Project Environmental Impact Appraisal and in relation to new-build, refurbishment and regeneration projects.

This module will give you an understanding of business management concepts and the legal framework that construction businesses operate within. You will learn about the business environment and legal issues relating to the construction industry. You will also understand the ethical responsibilities of a construction professional.

You will complete an independent study using theoretical, experimental or investigative analysis (or a combination of these). The nature of dissertation is to challenge you to produce original work as solutions will not be readily available.

This module aims to provide you with a detailed understanding and knowledge of the content, requirements and applications of the health, welfare and safety legislation relevant to the utilities industry.

This module will develop your knowledge in Construction Project Management. You'll gain knowledge of the areas and skills relevant to the contemporary Construction Project Management Professional and how to apply these skills within a project simulated environment.
