What you'll do

  • You'll learn about disease pathology and how exercise can be used to prevent and manage disease.
  • You will learn about the complexities of exercise prescription, including how to take a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
  • You'll be taught by experts from a variety of backgrounds, including medicine, physiotherapy, sport and exercise science.

Future careers

Our PGCert in Clinical Exercise for the Prevention and Management of Disease will prepare you for a role in clinical exercise prescription. You'll be able to understand, manage and optimise exercise prescription. This is  a growing market, which could lead to roles in primary care or public health.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants admitted onto the course will meet the following requirements
  • Have a relevant professional qualification for example in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or Strength & Conditioning
  • Be actively engaged in or access clinical experience in a Sports and Exercise Medicine practice in order to support learning within the programme
  • Have sufficient competency in English language (IELTS Level 6.0 or equivalent)
  • All suitable applicants will be interviewed. Interview procedures and decisions regarding applications will be conducted within the University’s policies on equal opportunities and admissions
  • Academic Integrity essentials (AIE) completion is required prior to undertaking first module
