Our Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (with Foundation Year) course will put you on the path to working in the field of mental health as an accredited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).

Courses with integrated foundation years are ideal if you’ve got the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly join an honours programme.

This course is for anybody who wants to work in the helping professions from a therapeutic perspective. Our course examines contemporary issues in the field of psychological wellbeing, focusing on public mental health and social prescribing. The uniqueness of this course allows you to build on your strengths on how you work with people.

You’ll complete a range of modules alongside your placement giving you the skills and knowledge to prepare you ready for work as an accredited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) after successful completion of this course.

What you'll do

Develop an in-depth understanding of contemporary issues in psychological wellbeing.
You’ll gain a qualification which is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). This means it follows their Code of Ethics and Conduct.
We’ll encourage you to engage in lifelong learning and develop your understanding of the value of research in education.

Our BSc (Hons) Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Foundation Year will equip you with a range of communication skills.

Each week there will be a mixture of short lectures, group discussion, debates, presentations and blended learning. This is designed to meet the learning styles of all class members.

You’ll reflect on experiences from the skills sessions to maximise learning opportunities. You'll discuss these experiences within a group setting.

The assessments range from assignments to presentations, with the opportunity on some modules of negotiated assessments. You will get directed study and reading lists to help focus on specific areas in preparation for class.

As you progress you’ll get the skills, strategies and behaviours expected of a confident, independent and active learner.

In the event that your Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check proves to be unsatisfactory for the purpose of this course, your offer of a place may be withdrawn. If you have already enrolled on a course and your DBS check subsequently discloses a criminal conviction, you may be required to withdraw from the course, even if you have already started. If you are aware that your DBS check will disclose a previous conviction, please contact the course leader for advice, as not all convictions may preclude you from continuing with the course.
