Applied Health Research Hub

The Applied Health Research Hub (AHRh) combines the expertise of specialists and administrators, working to advance health and care research through impactful projects and public sector partnerships.

The Applied Health Research Hub (AHRh) at the University of Central Lancashire delivers research, innovation, and enterprise projects relevant to health and care technology areas. The hub is led by Professor Dame Caroline Watkins and provides research design and statistical support (RDSS). It leverages our expertise in experimental design, statistics, health economics, evidence synthesis, information science, and implementation science.

The Applied Health Research Hub includes three sub-units:

  • Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) - conducts clinical trials to improve health outcomes.
  • Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Unit - evaluates the effectiveness and costs of health technologies.
  • Research Facilitation and Delivery Unit (RFDU) - supports the planning and delivery of research projects.
