What you'll do

  • You'll apply theory to practice through lectures, workshops and case-based discussions.
  • Learn from experts in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Sport, Exercise and Nutritional Sciences and Strength and Conditioning.
  • You'll have access to facilities from the School of Medicine and Dentistry, Sports and the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre and our UCLan Sports Arena.

This programme will enable you pursue a career in supporting people from an overweight and obese population.

The recent pandemic and its impact on public health and wellbeing has resulted in an increased focus on health protection, promotion and disease prevention. This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge you’ll need to work in an obesity management environment.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants admitted onto the course will meet at least one of the following requirements
  • Must have completed a relevant qualification for example in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or Strength and Conditioning
  • Be actively engaged in or access professional experience in a Sports and Exercise Medicine practice in order to support learning within the programme
  • Be actively engaged in Public Health service development or service delivery
  • All applicants must have sufficient competency in English Language (IELTS 6.0 with no component score lower than 5.)
  • All suitable applicants will be interviewed. Interview procedures and decisions regarding applications will be conducted within the University’s policies on equal opportunities and admissions
