A Degree Apprenticeship is different to a normal degree. This is because you need a relevant job and your employer’s support, as they’ll be the ones applying for a Degree Apprenticeship. They’ll apply directly through the University instead of UCAS.
If you or your employer have any questions during the application process, you can email our Business Development team. We'll be able to advise you on the application.
Jump ahead to:
1. Relevant employment
You will need a relevant job to apply for a Degree Apprenticeship. You must be contracted for 30 hours a week or more. This is because workplace learning is a big part of a Degree Apprenticeship. You'll normally spend four days a week in work and one day a week studying.
2. Apprenticeship Matching Service
If you don’t have a relevant job, you can sign up to our free Apprenticeship Matching Service. We’ll match you with employers who are actively looking for degree apprentices. This includes employers across the business, construction, engineering, digital and legal industries.
Please note that we are unable to recruit to health, care or nursing degree apprenticeships through our Apprenticeship Matching Service. Please contact your local health providers and local authorities to discuss opportunities.
3. Gain employer support
Your employer will need to agree to the Degree Apprenticeship, as they will be applying for it.
Need some help getting your employer's support? Here are some key benefits of a Degree Apprenticeship:
- Government funding is available and can cover up to 95% of fees.
- Apprentices fill skills gaps to ensure the longevity of the business.
- Introduce new ideas and innovation to the business.
- Upskill employees and nurture growth instead of recruiting outside the business.
Employers can visit our Degree Apprenticeships for employers page to find out more.
4. Contact us
Once you have a relevant job and your employer’s support, they can contact us to apply. To do this, they can complete our form, email us or call us on (+44) 01772 895500.
We’ll get in touch with the relevant documentation and talk you and your employer through the application process.
5. Next steps
Degree Apprenticeships are government funded, so there are some additional checks we’ll need to undertake. This includes identity verification, a skills scan and the signing of contracts. These are all legal requirements before you can enrol on your Degree Apprenticeship.
Don’t worry, our team will be on hand to help you throughout the process. We’ll email you with instructions at every stage.
6. Enrol on your Degree Apprenticeship
Once we have received everything we need from you, you’ll be able to enrol onto your Degree Apprenticeship.
You'll still get all the normal perks of being a student, including a student discount and access to our facilities. We have a great range of support available to help you make the most of your time at University.
