Promoter

  1. For the avoidance of any doubt, the promoter of the UK – Priority Clearing free prize draw 2024 (competition) is the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Preston, PR1 2HE.
  2. This competition is made up of two separate prize draws: the early bird draw and the main prize draw. For further detail about both, please see the how to enter and deadlines and prize draw sections.

Eligibility and entry limit

  1. This competition is open to all UK permanent, and legal residents.
  2. Only one entry per individual will be accepted using a verified email address.
  3. Entrants into this competition shall be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions upon entry.
  4. We accept no responsibility for any entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete or cannot be delivered for any technical reason or any other reasons.
  5. Entries on behalf of another person or joint submissions will not be accepted.
  6. Immediate family members of (meaning, spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) of employees and/or directors of the University of Central Lancashire are not eligible for the Competition.

How to enter and deadlines

  1. To enter the ‘early prize draw’ eligible entrants should submit their Priority Clearing – register your interest form on or before 23.59 GMT on Thursday 4 July 2024.
  2. To enter the ‘main prize draw’ eligible entrants should submit their Priority Clearing – register your interest form on or before 23.59 GMT on Tuesday 13 August 2024 and to claim their prize, must have successfully enrolled with the University on a campus-based undergraduate degree course at our Preston, Burnley or Westlakes campus by Sunday 6 October 2024.
  3. If you enter the Competition before 23:59 GMT on 4 Thursday July 2024, you will be automatically entered for both the early prize draw and the main prize draw. If you enter the Competition from 00:00 GMT on Friday 5 July, you will be automatically entered for the main prize draw only – however the eligibility criteria still applies.
  4. No purchase, payment or donation of any kind is necessary to enter the competition. A purchase, payment will not increase your chances of winning.

Prize draws

1) Fifty (50) early bird draw (the “secondary prize winners”) and thirty-six (36) main prize draw (the “grand prize winners”) will be chosen in accordance with the table below.

2) The Competition opens on Monday 3 June at 09:00 GMT and closes on Tuesday 13 August 2024 at 23:59 GMT. Any entries received outside of this period will not be accepted.

3) Winners for both the “early bird draw” and the “main prize draw” of the Competition will be chosen at random from a draw of entries received in accordance with these terms and conditions. The draws will be performed by a random generator.

Winner notifications, prize acceptance, confirmation and verification process

  1. For “secondary prize winners” of the early bird draw, they will be contacted directly following the announcement of the draw to obtain further contact details so their prize can be transferred. The prize winners will receive their prizes by post within sixty (60) days after the relevant details have been passed to us.
  2. For the ‘grand prize winners’ of the main prize draw, prizes will either be posted to their official residence or term time University address. In some cases, the prize may be transferred through collection and pick-up at a Preston campus location.
  3. All winners must acknowledge acceptance of the prize and provide us with a postal or further contact details in order to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond within 28 days of being notified of their win, then the winner’s prize shall be forfeited, and we shall be entitled to select a new winner in accordance with the process set out above (such new winner shall also be subject to the obligations set out in this condition). UCLan does not accept any responsibility if a winner is unable to take up their prize.
  4. We reserve the right to substitute the prize with another prize of similar value if the original prize becomes unavailable for any reason.
  5. We accept no responsibility for any costs associated with the prizes that are not specifically and expressly included in the prizes.
  6. The prizes are non‐exchangeable, non‐transferrable and a cash alternative is not available (with the sole exception of prize b) under the ‘main prize draw’, where a cash alternative is available).
  7. If a winner rejects the prize or their entry is found to be in breach of these terms and conditions, their prize shall be forfeited, and we shall be entitled to select a new winner.

General conditions

1. All third-party names and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. This Competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or affiliated in any way with the businesses that the prizes are purchased from.

2. We may contact the winners through their confirmed email address about participating in publicity related to the Competition. This may involve the publication of their names and photographs on the UCLan website and in any other media selected by UCLan. If a winner objects to their name and photograph being published or made publicly available, they can contact UCLan via webco@uclan.ac.uk. In such circumstances, UCLan must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

3. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liability, injury, illness or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of accepting the prize, except where it is caused by our negligence. We further disclaim our liability, to the maximum extent permitted by law, for any injury or damage caused to you or any other person relating to or resulting from participating in the competition, as well as any computer or devices used as part of entry to the competition. Your statutory rights are not affected.

4. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude our liability for death, personal injury, fraud or any other liability we cannot exclude by law.

5. We reserve the right from time to time to modify or discontinue this competition with or without prior notice where in our reasonable opinion it becomes reasonably necessary. Our decisions on all matters under our control are final and binding and no correspondence or negotiation will be entered into regarding a decision of ours.

6. We shall not be liable for any failure to comply with our obligations where that failure is caused by something outside our reasonable control, with the exception of the failure of our suppliers in providing the prize.

7. This competition shall be governed by English law and the entrants to the competition submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

8. We will process any personal information you submit to us in compliance with data protection legislation. Any personal data you provide will be used for the purposes of administering the competition, publishing entries, notifying you if you win and for any publicity purposes involving competition winners, as set out in these terms and conditions. This may involve publishing information on the UCLan website or on social media which means it will be available to the public, worldwide. We may also need to share some personal data with third parties to arrange prizes. We will use your information to contact you if you win. We will not use your contact details for marketing purposes and will not sell your details to third parties for marketing purposes. We shall only keep your personal information for the purposes set out in these Terms and Conditions.
