The Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) offers a bespoke cohort training programme for PhD students. The training focuses on developing transferable, research and academic skills. 

During training with the DTC, you'll develop skills and knowledge of:

  • Commercialisation of research
  • Creating impact through research
  • Presenting with confidence
  • Agile Project Management
  • Resilience
  • Academic Writing
  • Networking
  • Leadership

During your 3 years in the DTC, you'll be expected to participate in a range of training and development activities to develop your CV for a career in industry or academia.

Training is continuously reviewed to ensure employability skills are aligned to industry needs. The DTC aims to create a highly skilled and employable cohort of PhD students.

Students wishing to apply for PhDs within the Doctoral Training Centre should visit our Postgraduate research page where current studentships are advertised. The studentships are usually advertised each Spring for a September start, with a fixed number of places available.
