William studied the BA in Live Audio Engineering and Music Production at our partner Spirit Studios. He shares how the hands-on learning, industry work experience, and supportive environment have equipped him with the skills and contacts needed to pursue a successful career in music.
"My time studying the BA in Live Audio Engineering and Music Production at Spirit Studios was a fantastic journey. I've always been passionate about music, and when I found out about UCLan’s partnership with Spirit Studios, it felt like the perfect fit. The course offered the ideal balance of hands-on learning and theoretical study. The facilities at Spirit Studios were top-notch, allowing me to practice and experiment outside of class hours—something that I found really beneficial.
One of my favourite aspects of the program was the work experience. I had the opportunity to apply what I’d learned in a real-world setting, working at various venues around Manchester. This gave me valuable industry experience and helped me build a network of contacts, which is crucial in the music industry.
The tutors were always approachable and supportive, offering both written and in-person feedback. They were always available after class if I had questions, and their guidance throughout the course was invaluable.
The course was ideal for me because it was focused on practical, hands-on experience rather than just theory and essays. It was exactly what I needed to break into the music industry. The contacts I made during my work experience have already opened doors, and I’m now ready to take the next step in my career.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking to pursue a career in music. Whether you're interested in production or performance, the practical experience and connections you'll gain are unmatched. I’m excited to see where this journey will take me next."
