National Apprenticeship Week: Celebrating Skills for Life

The University of Central Lancashire hosted several events to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (10–16 February).

The events covered a variety of programmes to enable employers to develop their workforce while providing individuals with the skills needed to pursue their desired careers at any stage of life.

One of the highlights of the week was our Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) Advice Event, delivered in partnership with Lancashire Constabulary. With 433 bookings, the event offered invaluable insights for individuals considering a career in policing.

Aspiring recruits spoke to serving Police Officers and our expert course team, gaining a real understanding of what it takes to join the force. The event covered everything from the benefits of the apprenticeship to the key skills and knowledge developed throughout the programme.

Our PCDA programme, aligned with the College of Policing curriculum, provides future officers with high-level training in operational policing. Also, evidence-based decision-making, problem-solving and leadership. These are the core skills needed to serve the community with confidence.

Events like this highlight how our Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship equips you with the skills, knowledge, and experience to serve your community with confidence and integrity.”

The University also hosted a National Apprenticeship Celebration Breakfast, providing local businesses with an opportunity to network, connect with industry professionals, and explore the exciting world of apprenticeships.

The week also set the stage for our upcoming SPARK - the Apprenticeship Matching Service event on 27 March. At this event, we help businesses connect with talented individuals ready to take their first steps into an apprenticeship. This free event has been a huge success in recent years, ensuring local employers find and nurture the best future talent.

National Apprenticeship Week was a fantastic celebration of the impact and opportunities apprenticeships create—not just for individuals but for businesses and the wider community. The University is committed to supporting businesses, developing skills, and shaping careers through our comprehensive Degree Apprenticeship offer.
