Are you passionate about physical education and sport? This foundation year is designed to give you a solid base in sport, physical activity and health. This will allow you to progress onto a full degree.

In the foundation year, you'll explore a range of topics in sport. This includes how sport and physical activity can affect performance and health. You'll learn about the different ways sport is structured and delivered - whether in a group setting or for individual participants.

You will also gain key academic skills, including groupwork and producing coursework. This will prepare you for success in the rest of your degree.

As you move on to the Physical Education and Sport degree, you’ll gain the skills to lead, teach and inspire. You’ll learn how to create engaging PE lessons that motivate students of all ages and abilities.

Our degree focuses making sport accessible and fun. You will study how to create inclusive physical education environments and work with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We value real-world experience. You’ll have the opportunity to work in schools, SEND services or sports organisations. In your second year, you can even opt for a year in industry to gain deeper practical skills.

We will consider your educational achievements, predicted grades, work experience and personal statement. If you don't meet the grades for your chosen course, we will consider you for other programmes.

International Baccalaureate Diploma: Pass including 64 points from Higher Level Subjects
T Level: P (D or E)
IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
GCSEs: 5 at grade C/4 including Maths and English or equivalent

This course will involve you working with vulnerable groups of individuals, this may include children. In order to ensure that the University offers places on their programmes to suitable candidates you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance (formerly termed CRB).

We will be able to guide you through this process once you have been offered a conditional place of study at the University of Central Lancashire.

It is important to note that should your Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prove to be unsatisfactory for the purpose of the course you have applied to, your offer of a place for that course may be withdrawn. If you have already enrolled on a course and your DBS check subsequently discloses a criminal conviction, you may be required to withdraw from the course even if you have already started. If you are aware that your DBS check will disclose a previous conviction, please contact the course leader for advice as not all convictions may preclude you from continuing with the course.

Studying this degree involves various modes of learning, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops. It also requires independent study, like writing essays, reports and preparing presentations. In your final year, you will write a dissertation or undertake a consultancy project.

It will also have the opportunity to study abroad or complete a year in industry. This could enable you to collaborate with other institutions, visit different countries, and deepen your understanding of physical education and sport on a global scale.
