This module aims to provide you with education studies knowledge, and skills. You'll get an overview of debates and issues surrounding learners in the education system, and to equip you with knowledge of both historical and current policy and practice.

The aims of this module are to provide you with knowledge and understanding of inclusion, exclusion and diversity in education. You'll investigate the topic of equal access to educational opportunities and the different theories and concepts surrounding this debate.

This module will give you an understanding of how theory and policy influence education, while encouraging reflection on personal educational experiences and the broader purpose of education. It also promotes discussion of contemporary issues and develops collaborative, individual, and group learning strategies.

This module will enable you to learn through the experience of observing education in action. Upon experiencing teaching in practice, you will be able to reflect on your own performance and apply learnt techniques to improve your professionalism.

And you'll explore how political, economic, social, and technological processes shape global educational provision.

This module explores the application of major sociological perspectives, theories, and concepts to education in Britain. It aims to help you understand the extent to which sociological theory can explain educational issues and inequalities and develop an awareness of how social policies are informed by ideology and social theories.

You'll explore the psychology of learning and the development of eclectic practice in education. This module will look at the three main psychological schools of theory about teaching and learning, and also introduce you to the practical application of theory in teaching.

In this module you will have the opportunity to take part in a work placement of your choice. The experience you gain will greatly benefit your studies and enhance your employability skills. You will reflect on your experiences in a final report.

This module aims to familiarise you with the debated aspects of diversity and inclusion, and analyse educational opportunities for learners with SEND. You'll also learn about other dimensions of inequality, and assess the effectiveness of government policies and school strategies on the education of learners with SEND.

On this module you'll explore how schooling is portrayed in various media narratives, analysing their insights into teaching, learning, and educational experiences across different contexts. You'll connect these fictional portrayals to contemporary education, history, theory, and ideology.

This module enhances your academic writing, critical thinking, and research abilities, focusing on skills like critical analysis, evidence synthesis, proper source utilization, and theory application. Successful completion is required if you're planning to take the research-based dissertation module.

The module will provide you with the opportunity to undertake an extended, independent study of a significant topic relating to your named qualification subject area.

This module examines the history and continuing relevance of the concept of the teacher as a professional in an educational context. You will explore things such as the nature of professionalism, the influence of trade unions, professional bodies and interest groups, and the influence of gender and the professional role.

Our module explores the nature and impact of policies on various sectors of education and care. Key features of policy in this field at national and local levels will be examined and the implications for its practitioners, practitioner professionalism and management explored.

In this module you will explore the education for the vulnerable children and young people. The children you will explore may include victims of abuse and children involved with crime. If you are considering a career in teaching, social work or care, this module will benefit you.

This module enables you to engage in experiential learning through time spent in an educational setting, to critically reflect upon and assess the relevance of your observations with broader aspects of educational policy and practice and equip you with experience and insights to enhance your employability.

This module explores the relationship between learning, curriculum, assessment, and how each informs the other. You'll assess the concept of valid knowledge, scrutinise teaching and learning theories in relation to the curriculum, and explore the nature of a core curriculum across various educational sectors.

In this module you will explore the role of family in education and parental involvement in children's education, the policies that promote this, the impacts of parents' involvements (or lack of it) on children's experience and attainment and barriers to involvement based on gender, ethnicity, social class and disability.
