As Course Leader for the undergraduate Business and Management degree, Michael is responsible for all aspects of course leadership and development.


Full Profile

An experienced academic with an extensive background in the Retail industry and knowledge across a range of sectors including Fashion and Grocery.  Industry experience with a range of retailers at shop floor and head office level to support with bringing practical and real-world examples into the classroom setting.  Close links with a range of external organisations through consultancy and student led projects.

Teaching Activities and Responsibilities

Course Leader for the Business and Management undergraduate programme.  Responsibility for the administration of course activity along with continuous course development.

Module Leader for first, second and third year undergraduate modules across a range of Business and Management led modules.

Academic Advisor for first year undergraduate students with overall responsibility for all students on the programme.

External Activities

UCLan/Age UK Wigan Borough

Project lead for joint collaboration between UCLan and Age UK Wigan Borough with the LSBE.  Michael worked closely across schools and with AGEUKWB to develop a multi-functional and multi-generational hybrid space within Wigan town centre designed at profit generation from both retail sales and community outreach.  Michael worked with the course team to develop a number of student led projects and research designed at directly contributing towards the outputs from this project.

Burnley and Rossendale Council

Burnley Council
Michael was project lead on the development of a strategic report based on the future direction of Burnley Market.  He also managed the student led research process from third year undergraduates whilst maintaining close links with external client.

Rossendale Council
Michael was project lead on the development of a strategic report based on the future direction of Bacup market.  He also managed the largest student led project in the school with over 70 students working on a range of different scenarios for the market.

St Catherines Hospice

Michael was project lead for a number of student lead research projects into such areas as online presence and new store openings.
