If you are an experienced dentist, this part-time course will give you the skills to use conscious sedation safely and effectively.

Entry requirements
You will need full GDC registration, an enhanced DBS and occupational health checks. You will also need to have indemnity.
You will need to complete an application form, personal statement and attend a virtual interview before you're accepted onto the course. There are a limited number of places available.
- Applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Surgeon
- A satisfactory Criminal records declaration (DBS/Disclosure Scotland) and Occupational Health check is required for this course
- Be registered with a defence union
- Have indemnity insurance cover at an appropriate level for the practice of Conscious Sedation
- Hold a current certificate of immunisation against communicable disease (Hepatitis B)
- Students will need to have completed Immediate Life Support in line with national guidelines. This will be offered at UCLan as a CPD course. Alternative arrangements by external providers could be made for ILS
- Have sufficient competency in English language (IELTS Level 7 or equivalent)
- Competency may be demonstrated by qualification, accreditation of prior learning or separate University assessment
- All suitable applicants will be interviewed remotely. Interview procedures and decisions regarding applications will be conducted within the University’s policies on equal opportunities and admissions
This course will involve you working with vulnerable groups of individuals, this may include children. In order to ensure that the University offers places on their programmes to suitable candidates you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance (formerly termed CRB).
