Hundreds arrive to start face-to-face teaching
Hundreds of new students have arrived at the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) Burnley Campus for the return of face-to-face teaching.
Some of the new starters have been settling into Sandygate Halls of residence and all students have been welcomed to the campus and town with a wide variety of entertainment.
At Victoria Mill, UCLan’s Students’ Union organised a Freshers’ Fair. The event was hosted by an entertainer and a DJ brought the party vibe. Students were able to collect some free edible and drinkable treats, while a variety of local businesses, including Burnley Football Club, Burnley Leisure (which students can use for free as part of their UCLan package) and Burnley Markets had stalls to show students what’s available in the town.

A range of charities and volunteering groups, including the Army, Lancashire Women and Safenet, were also in attendance.
At Sandygate Halls and The Gallery at Creative Arts, a plethora of social events took place. They included live music, quiz night, cake club, film night, games night, pizza night and afternoon tea.
Dharma Kouuvri, Dean of UCLan’s Burnley Campus, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming new and returning students to our fantastic Burnley Campus.
“Welcome Week signifies the start of a new chapter in our students’ lives and we know, after the past 18 months, they are more excited than ever to be here in person.”
Teaching starts today, 4 October.
