Champion powerlifter Bobbie Butters will answer this question during a free talk at the University of Central Lancashire
Have you ever wondered how elite athletes combine their training with working?
If so, an athlete who has represented Team GB, will explain how she juggles the two at a free talk being organised by the University of Central Lancashire.
On Thursday 16 January, champion powerlifter Bobbie Butters will discuss the intricacies of her training schedule as she journeys toward the World Games 2025.
Bobbie is a two-time European Powerlifting Champion. She has been lifting competitively for more than a decade and has represented her country 10 times. She competes in the 57kg weight category and has lifted more than three times her own bodyweight during squat lift competitions.
"As well as discussing my physical training methods, I’ll be talking about the mental strategies and managing stress, and the time management needed to remain disciplined in both work and rest"
— Champion powerlifter Bobbie Butters
She is also a full-time University of Central Lancashire lecturer in sports and exercise science, a strength and conditioning coach, and a PhD student.
Bobbie said: “My free public talk will give people a real insight into what I go through being an athlete while working full time.
“There are only so many hours in the day, and it often feels like it's not enough. As well as discussing my physical training methods, I’ll be talking about the mental strategies and managing stress, and the time management needed to remain disciplined in both work and rest.”
Athletes in the Working World will take place in Foster Lecture Theatre 3, in Foster Building. Doors open at 5.40pm, the lecture starts at 6pm and a question-and-answer session starts at 7.30pm.
