Job details

The School is seeking to appoint a part time Clinical Teacher to join its clinical academic team. Working predominantly with undergraduate students, you will work closely with the pre-clinical team for the provision of pre-clinical supervision and training (mainly of prosthetic treatments by Clinical Dental Technology Students), adhering to curriculum / quality assurance requirements.

The School is rooted firmly within Primary Care and we operate an integrated BDS / Dental Therapy/Clinical Dental Technology programme, along with a range of clinical and non-clinical programmes at all levels across the dental team. Our undergraduate BDS/DT/ students are located in one of four Dental Education Centres from the second year of their training.

You will be based at Preston but will be expected to travel occasionally throughout the region, to Dental Education Centres and Enhanced Training Practices, including but not limited to Accrington, Blackpool, Morecambe and Carlisle.

We require comprehensive long-term experience of primary care dentistry in a GDP, Clinic, or University. Full current registration with the GDC is essential, as is a formal teaching qualification or willingness to undertake one within 2 years of appointment. Holding a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)is essential, a post-graduate qualification is desirable.

As a team player, you will have the ability to explain and demonstrate practical skills, be IT literate in the use of standard Microsoft packages and will also demonstrate excellent communication skills. We require a commitment both to inter-professional education and to personal and professional development.

Informal discussions are welcome. Please contact Claudia Cunningham at CCunningham6@uclan.ac.uk or Helen Hughes at hhughes9@uclan.ac.uk  in the first instance.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based at Preston, but you should be willing and able to travel on University business as an integral part of this role.
