Who is the course for?

This course is aimed at those interested in a qualification within the healthcare or health education arena. Most speech and language therapists work alongside other health professionals and professionals allied to health. However, there is also an opportunity for those within the private sector and charities to benefit. You'll need to be in suitable employment to complete this course.

What you'll do

  • The course will be put forward for accreditation by the RCSLT and approval from HCPC. Successful completion of the course will allow you to apply for full membership to the CSP and registration with the HCPC.
  • You'll learn from a team of experienced, innovative, and highly motivated Speech and Language Therapists who will support your development throughout the course.
  • Develop the research skills needed to provide high-quality Speech and Language Therapy, guided by evidence. You’ll also be ready to make a real difference to the profession, advancing professional knowledge and best practice.

Please note that this course is subject to validation which may result in changes to the course structure. Any changes as a result of the validation will be immediately included and highlighted in the course documentation. All students holding current offers will be given a comprehensive list of those changes.

Professional qualifications and accreditations

This course is subject to approval by the Health and Care Professions Council and accreditation by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Speech and language therapy facilities

If you study on-campus you'll learn in our purpose-built rehabilitation and assessment facilities. You'll also benefit from small class sizes.

Future careers as a speech and language therapist

Successful completion of this Degree Apprenticeship will lead to the eligibility to apply for registration with the HCPC and membership of the RCSLT. 

Entry requirements

  • Your employer should ensure you have an enhanced DBS and occupational health clearance to study. They should provide you with an appropriate uniform. Your employer is also responsible for ensuring you are up to date with all mandatory training. Please note if your application is unsuccessful you cannot apply again in the same UCAS cycle.
