This short course is for people who have a social work qualification, but haven't worked in the role for a while. It helps you re-engage with social work knowledge, law and contemporary practice.

  • Route A - if you wish to update your social work knowledge and would like to apply to join or rejoin the social work register.

  • Route B - if you wish to reflect on your professional practice, learning and development.

Entry requirements

As this is a postgraduate module, in general, we expect you to have a relevant undergraduate degree at 2:2 or above.

If your previous education doesn't meet the entry requirements, please ask for an informal discussion. We need to see that you have the potential to study at a post-graduate level.

Specifically for Route A

To meet Social Work England's requirements, you must show proof of your social work qualification, like your degree or diploma.

You also need to submit a personal statement. This should explain your social work-related experience to date and why you want to do this module.

Duration: One 3 month semester in duration.

This course is usually run during Semester 1 (September) or Semester 3 (May). If demand is high, the course may also run in Semester 2 (February).
