"My experience studying the BA in Live Audio Engineering and Music Production at Spirit Studios has been incredible. I've always had a passion for music, and after finishing high school, I knew I wanted to be involved in the industry in some way. Engineering seemed like the perfect fit, as it gave me a direct route into the music world.
The work experience module was invaluable. It gave me the opportunity to dive into real-world projects
What I loved most about the course was the hands-on nature and the work experience module. Spirit Studios made sure we were connected with real opportunities in the industry, and I was able to gain practical experience by working at major events like the Beat Herder Festival and Love Supreme, a jazz festival in Brighton. These experiences were amazing and gave me a taste of what it's like to work in the industry, all while helping me build important contacts.
The facilities at Spirit Studios were fantastic, and the ability to book equipment outside of class time really allowed me to practice and hone my skills. The staff were always approachable and supportive, creating a fun and open environment that made learning a lot easier. Whether it was fixing an issue with equipment or just chatting about a project, they were always there to help.
Overall, I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in pursuing a career in music production. The practical experience you gain through the work placement opportunities and the amazing facilities at Spirit Studios set you up for success in the industry. If you’re willing to push yourself and get out there, it’s a great way to get started.
Looking ahead, I’m not sure exactly where I’ll go next, but I’m excited to explore the production side of music even further, including DJing, which is another passion of mine. Whatever happens, the work experience and skills I've gained from this course will definitely help me take the next step."
