Bader shares his experience studying Aerospace Engineering

A great study environment is available to students here at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) according to Bader from Saudi Arabia. Below, our Aerospace Engineering student discusses his experience so far.

On the Aerospace Engineering course, I have enjoyed the computer-aided design and using innovative machines and equipment within the modern Engineering Innovation Centre facility. We have also had a few trips to engineering companies as a part of the course which was useful and informative.

The tutors and professors are really helpful and caring – initially, I chose UCLan because of how friendly the staff were and how interesting the course seemed. When I first arrived it was easy to know where to go and what to do thanks to the guidance of the tutors.

Everything needed for a good study environment is provided here at UCLan. I often use the library and some software, such as Horizon and Handshake which allow me to access things from home when needed.

"Living conditions are great and the University accommodation team were helpful, providing us with rooms that are clean, tidy, and well-managed."

Away from the course, I like to use the free student gym where the staff are helpful and the equipment is well-maintained. I often hang out with friends and visit new places too, like major cities in both England and Scotland.

It is important as a university student to have a good divide between your studies and social life – your experience will be fun and eye-opening! And remember, you are always allowed to ask for help.

My first impression of Preston was that it’s such an easy city to navigate! It’s a compact city with many attractions and the locals are extremely friendly.

Preston has a good blend between social and study life, whilst also being close to other cities, like Liverpool and Manchester, which are 45 minutes away by train.
