Valerie McNeela

Valerie is the module leader for the first year theory module for Trainee Nursing Associates. She has a passion for making learning accessible and has introduced additional support to her module: to help all learners get the most out of their studies and facilitate their ongoing success, whatever their previous educational experiences.

Valerie completed her initial Registered Nurse training at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, in 1993, then completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Anatomy and Human Biology. She has worked at a number of specialist children’s hospitals across the UK and also worked as a scientist for a number of years.
Following a Return to Practice programme, and prior to joining us, her clinical experience was in children’s high dependency nursing and children’s clinical trials.

Valerie has co-authored a book with her colleague Julia Robinson: Children's Nursing Placements: Pocket Guides for Student Nurses (Lantern Publishing, 2019).
