Dr Tyler Warburton
As an Associate Dean, Tyler is a visionary leader committed to advancing healthcare education and practice. Through empowerment of staff and students, Tyler seeks to create an engaging and enriching educational experience to develop the nurses of the future. Bringing a unique blend of expertise, passion and dedication, Tyler’s leadership style is collaborative and empowering, with a focus on building relationships and fostering communication.
Tyler’s portfolio covers nursing programmes leading to initial registration as well as leading on student voice, engagement, and practice learning within the School. His academic and research interests relate to supporting transformational learning and the development professional identity through the use of Lego Serious Play and other creative pedagogy. A key focus of his role is ensuring the nursing programmes meet the demands of modern healthcare practice as well as being compliant with NMC standards.
Tyler is a Registered Nurse (Adult) and has a wide range of educational and clinical experience within front-line health services and higher education institutions. His clinical background started in radiological and oncological operating theatres covering anaesthesia, recovery and scrub roles. Following this Tyler moved to surgical neonatal intensive care before then taking up a practice education role over a large directorate. Within higher education, Tyler has led a range of established programmes as well as developed new curricula, both as a programme leader and more recently associate dean.
As an educational leader, Tyler adopts a collaborative approach that draws upon coaching practices to support individuals to reach their full potential. This has consistently proven to be highly effective at securing a deep level of engagement from the teams he works with. These on-going relationships have enabled Tyler to develop a personal brand that stakeholders recognise as confident, reliable and innovative, as well as having excellent communication skills with a range of different audiences.
