Dr Sue Jamieson
Sue is currently the Programme Lead for the PGDip in International Medical Sciences, and was previously Year 1 MBBS lead at UCLan. Sue is a physiologist with particular expertise in the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, and her main interest areas are physiology in extreme environments and cardiorespiratory control. She has taught physiology at UCLan to MBBS, PGDip, BSc Medical Sciences and Physicians' Associates students.
As Programme Lead for the PGDip IMS, Sue works closely with colleagues in our partner school (American University of the Caribbean Medical School) in the design and delivery of the programme. She has line management responsibility for the teaching staff and works collaboratively with the AUC Dean, providing the UCLan perspective in the day-to-day coordination of the programme.
After completing her PhD in Respiratory Medicine, Sue undertook several years of research into cardiorespiratory control, before becoming a lecturer. She has taught physiology and related subjects to science, sports science, nursing and medical students and has also taught research methods, maths, and animal care. Sue has held several management roles including programme leaderships for Animal Care, Science, Sport and Exercise Science and Access to HE and was previously the Director of Studies for Sport programmes at the University of Cumbria. She has also held the role of Deputy Head of the International Study Centre at the University of Lancaster.
