Dr Shelley Byrne
Shelly is the Course Leader of MBA Business Administration. With over 15 years' experience in teaching international and home students across a range of levels (foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate), Shelley uses her expertise in teaching English for Academic Purposes and strategic competence to enable learners to gain maximum potential from their studies. Her particular interests in student attainment, continuation and widening participation have seen her participate in a range of School-level and university-wide initiatives. This is with the aim to boost success and instil students with confidence in their own abilities.
Shelley's current role in the School of Business involves Course Leadership of the January 2022 international MBA cohort. She also has shared module leadership of the Postgraduate Learning and Reflection module. Following publications in the field of applied linguistics, as well as teaching for the Postgraduate Research School, she also supervises several students across various doctoral and Master's research projects.
Shelley has been the PCR Workstream Lead and Co-Module Leader on Postgraduate Learning and Reflection. She has lectured in English for Academic Purposes and Academic Skills, English for Specific Purposes, English for Business Purposes, Postgraduate Research Compulsory Skills, and Professional Development.
