Shakil’s teaching schedule includes the delivery of technical support workshops that have consistently received very positive student feedback. This was the reason Shakil was nominated in 2022-23 for our and the Students’ Union Golden Roses Award for Lecturer of the Year. The aforementioned workshops are very much owned by the students - they are provided with a list of topics already covered within their modules and are polled to decide which topic from which module they would like further practice. It is one example (of many) that illustrates the excellent collaboration between course tutors and students.
The majority of Shakil’s career has been in education. He finds himself each year learning and developing alongside the students he teaches. It is heartwarming to be part of a student's memories after they leave university.
