Dr Nnamdi Okereke
Nnamdi is a veterinary surgeon with many years of academic and clinical experience working with different animal species. He teaches across a range of subjects within the School.
Currently, Nnamdi's roles include creating, delivering and supporting the students to become better clinicians. He also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Nnamdi is deeply committed to advancing learning and teaching standards, with a primary focus on helping students excel as clinicians in their chosen specialities. At the heart of his work lies a dedication to ensuring that students achieve successful outcomes commensurate with high academic standards.
Prior to him joining us, Nnamdi began his academic journey with the University of Nigeria, where he obtained his first degree. He gained valuable experience in mixed veterinary practice before going into advanced studies. In 2017, he pursued a Master's degree, while maintaining his part-time clinical practice. This period of academic and professional development laid the groundwork for his subsequent contributions to academia.
In 2019, Nnamdi joined the faculty of the University of Nigeria as a Clinical Lecturer in Anaesthesiology and small animal surgery while simultaneously pursuing his PhD. Nnamdi has published in different peer-reviewed journals and conference communications. In addition to his academic duties, he has been involved with hands-on clinical duties at the University of Nigeria Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Veterinary Farm. He has also served in different committees and subcommittees within the departmental and faculty levels respectively. In January 2023, Nnamdi successfully defended his PhD thesis, which investigated the haemotherapeutic, radiographic, acute phase response findings associated with transfusion of prolonged stored blood in splenectomised dogs under emergency and critical care. What's more, he enjoys relaxing with seminal literatures.
