Dr Nicola Hughes
Nicky is part of our team delivering teaching to year 3 and year 4 MBBS students across a variety of subjects. She also contributes to the marking and to assessment of academic writing. She is a qualified doctor and General Practitioner.
The campus day facilitator role involves direct teaching of medical subjects to the students, but also teaching communication skills and supporting students as their academic adviser.
Following qualification as a doctor at the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1990, Nicky pursued a short service commission with the Royal Air Force as a medical officer, part of which involved 6 months in search & rescue operations in the South Atlantic. This was followed by a short time in genitourinary medicine. She later returned to NHS General Practice. She has had further experience in a safeguarding role.
