Dr Leona Mydlowski
Leona teaches across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate law, criminology and policing courses and is also course leader for our MSc Criminal Investigation. Leona is currently teaching on International Criminal Law, Sexual offending and Vulnerability, Decision making and Criminal Investigation.
Before joining us in 2019, Leona studied for a PhD which was entitled 'An explorative study into police management of registered sex offenders'. Leona's research interests are around Sexual Offenders, risk assessment and management of sexual offenders and those persons who identify as 'vulnerable'. Leona also has research interests in decision making within the criminal justice system and international criminal law and is currently supervising PhD students in these areas. Leona has presented her work at both national and international conferences and her work is published in internationally recognised journals. Leona has also advised on Home Office consultation reports and has received funding to further develop her research. Leona is also a peer reviewer for several journals in her areas of research.
Leona is also a active member of UCLAN's research streams in the areas of sexual violence, youth justice, mental health and prisons and probation. Leona is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
