Laura Hughes
Laura teaches across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and modules. She also supervises dissertations at all levels on a range of topics. She has a particular interest in Property Law and Immigration Law. She is a qualified solicitor and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Laura is a principal lecturer in the School and sits on the School Management Team and helps to shape policies for the continued success of the School. She is very committed to the development of staff within her team and actively encourages and facilitates them to reach their full potential. She also teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has a 'hands on' approach to leadership within the School.
Laura was a qualified solicitor working in private practice in the fields of property and immigration law before coming to the University of Central Lancashire. Whilst at UCLan Laura has taught across many modules and held various course leaderships and other roles of responsibility. She has been an external examiner to two of the largest private university providers of legal education. She has been instrumental in developing a new award-wining online programme and had advised others in UCLan on developing online provision.
