Karen Beech
Karen joined us in 2023. She teaches on the BVMS and Bioveterinary Science programmes. Her main expertise lies in clinical behaviour. She has an interest in fear-free and feline friendly practise. Karen is also a Personal Tutor.
Outside of her teaching duties, Karen hopes to be involved in research to improve the wellbeing of domestic canines and felines in the home setting. This was particularly after seeing the impact COVID and isolation procedures had on the UK dog and cat population.
Karen qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2013 from Middlesex University. She went straight into full-time clinical practice, working in a variety of first-opinion settings. In 2018, Karen became a Clinical Coach, then in 2022, she graduated from Edinburgh University Vet School with an MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour.
Karen moved to academia in 2022, but still locums regularly to keep her practise up-to-date.
