Jenny completed her initial degree in 2004, studying to attain a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. After completing this degree, Jenny took work supporting disabled children as part of a summer project at the Stephen Hawking School in London. After, she returned home to her native Derbyshire and took a post as a trainee dental nurse. This began Jenny's interest and passion for dentistry.
Jenny qualified as a dental nurse in 2006, working for British Airways and Silverjet as cabin crew in a gap year between studies. After applying to complete the Dental Therapy diploma at Liverpool in 2009, Jenny was accepted on the programme based at Accrington Dental Centre. Jenny worked in corporate practice for ten years, trialling the NHS pilot contract, as well as holding private contracts with a variety of different practices and having practice management responsibilities.
Jenny is particularly interested in the patient journey, and techniques to overcome dental anxiety. For this reason, in 2020, Jenny completed a level 2 certificate in counselling skills and began studying to attain her Master's in applications of clinical psychology. She is due to complete this in June 2024. Jenny's Master's project focuses on stress, burnout and the rising mental health crisis amongst dental professionals.
