Helen Hughes
Helen is the Course Leader and Senior Clinical Lecturer for the BSc and Diploma programme for Clinical Dental Technology. She teaches across a variety of undergraduate programmes and is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).
In addition to teaching and prosthetic skills, Helen is a practicing clinical dentist. She is an Educational Supervisor for Higher Education England. This is for newly qualified Foundation Dentists and teaches prosthetics to dentists across the North West for NHS England. Integrating aesthetics into dentistry and its application to provision of dental/prosthetic treatment to ageing patients was part of her drive to obtain an MSc in skin ageing/aesthetics. Her current interests lie in the use of technology in education, digital dentistry/prosthetics and biomimetic/minimally invasive dentistry.
Prior to postgraduate training as a dentist, Helen worked as a veterinary surgeon. She is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
