Hamish Morrin
Hamish is a veterinary lecturer in clinical communication skills. Hamish is a veterinary nurse who has worked in zoos, wildlife hospitals, referral, charity practice and academia. His passion is in human factors and human support, especially regarding ethics and values.
Hamish teaches communication skills and related subjects across the veterinary school, especially in the BVMS.
His animal career began in New Zealand when he was in his 30s, qualifying first as a zookeeper and then as a veterinary nurse. After working in New Zealand and Australia, as well as volunteering in Belize and Thailand, he moved to the UK in 2013. Since then he has worked and volunteered for charities, worked in zoos and as a radiographer in a referral hospital, before moving to lecturing in 2018.
Hamish has taught veterinary nursing, animal science and conservation education at other institutions before joining UCLan. Along the way he picked up an MSc in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law and a Certificate in Veterinary Human Support. He is currently studying for his Professional Doctorate in Education.
