Dr Yu Zhou

Yu teaches a number of subjects for our electronics and robotics team. With track record in intelligent systems, Yu worked on projects together with NHS and other academic institutions. Yu is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE). Yu also supervises postgraduate projects on intelligent embedded systems.
Yu has been publishing in image and vision studies.
Yu is academic advisor and course leader for the degree apprenticeship programme of PGDip Engineering Competence. He led the development of an MSc course on Applied Data Science.

Yu developed a portable intelligent device for skin cancer diagnosis, which outperformed human experts earlier before the new surge of popularity of deep learning. Working together with domain experts, he developed a high throughput 3D imaging prototype system for pharmaceutical industry.
