Dr Chris Edmundson
Chris is a Senior Lecturer within Sport, Nutrition and Clinical Sciences and is the Course Leader for the MSc in Strength & Conditioning. A former national level competitive cyclist, Chris is an interdisciplinary sports scientist with a doctorate in sports biomechanics and physiology. He is also an accredited strength and conditioning coach, and has worked as a consultant sports scientist for the highly successful Rapha Condor cycling team, and later Team Sports Cover. Chris has also worked as Head of Sports Science at Blackpool and Burney Football Clubs.
Chris has devoted his time to writing and leading the MSc in Strength and Conditioning, which aims to lift new and developing coaches to the next level in their coaching career. He is the director of studies for several PhD and MRes research students, and also teaches on the undergraduate degrees in Strength and Conditioning and Sports Science
First employed by the University in 2003, Chris has taught on most undergraduate and post-graduate programmes within Sport and Exercise. He wrote and was Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Technology, and has also been Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Personal Fitness Training and BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning degrees.
