Bernadette Callaghan
Bernadette works in the Practice Learning Team in our School of Social Work. Her role is varied working with new agencies to facilitate and host social work placements and strengthening existing partnerships with current providers. She has involvement in the allocations of social work placements across both first and final BA and MA courses and teaching and marking responsibilities across the school. Her expertise is in Adult Social Work and Practice Learning.
Bernadette has expertise in Practice Learning and Adult Social Work practice delivering lectures, seminars and holding marking responsibilities across a range of modules within the school. She values her work supporting a small number of students each cohort as a university tutor.
She has worked across a range of adult services within social work beginning her social work career in leadership and management roles. She has valued the range of experiences she has obtained developing and remodelling services including work with Older Adults, Carers services and Advocacy.
In more recent years, Bernadette has found passion in teaching and supporting social work students in their practice as Practice Educator. Her role here continues to fuel her passion for teaching and learning within Higher Education.
