Dr Ayad Al-Moslih
Ayad brings extensive experience in Clinical Education, Disaster Medicine, and Point-of-Care Ultrasound training. He teaches across a range of subjects for our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He is a Senior Lecturer in Disaster Medicine and the Academic Lead in Medical Ultrasound. He has a particular interest in preparing health professionals to incorporate ultrasound into clinical practice at the point-of-care.
Shortly after joining us, Ayad played an active role in integrating medical ultrasound in the curriculum along with other passionate colleagues at the School, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He also introduced Team-Based Learning (TBL), especially in the faculty development on ultrasound skills.
Ayad commenced his career as an emergency doctor. He studied and trained in several places across Europe and the Middle East over the past 20 years.
He completed his master’s degree in medical education from Maastricht University in the charming southmost town of the Netherlands, Maastricht. He also did the European Master in Disaster Medicine at the University of Eastern Piedmont in Novara in the Northwest of Italy.
In the past 20 years, he developed, implemented, and supervised several clinical training programmes. These focus on integrating innovative approaches into clinical education. He taught in a few postgraduate programs and delivered several courses to healthcare professionals on resuscitation, trauma, disaster medical response, and point-of-care ultrasound, for which he is a certified trainer. He has been a Regional Faculty for the American Heart Association’s Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) program between 2011-2022. He has also been a manager of the Review Commission for Arabic translation of AHA guidelines between 2015-2020.
In his previous leadership roles at two different medical schools, he succeeded in building diverse and multi-professional teams with special attention to capacity building. He is passionate about causing a positive impact on others through training and development.
His research interest revolves around the preparedness of clinicians for their workplace. This is in addition to his interest in evaluating preparedness of healthcare providers to respond in mass casualty incidents. He has been a reviewer for several journals in medical education.
