Are you over 21 and interested in a career in nursing, but lack the Level 3 formal qualifications to apply for a nursing degree?

Why study with us

  • A number of free programmes are available, each specifically aimed at supporting applicants access the different Nursing pathways at UCLan.
  • Over the course of six weeks, you will be supported and assessed against the entry requirements and be eligible to apply for Year 0 or Year 1 of a degree.
  • This programme provides a taster of nursing degrees and introduces the study skills required for success.

What you'll do

  • You'll get introduced to key concepts important to the theory and practice of nursing.
  • You'll develop the academic, literacy, and numeracy skills required for future study. This could lead to a career in a nursing profession.
  • Develop and enhance your confidence, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills. Gain insight into what it would be like to study an undergraduate degree.

Which nursing pathway should you choose?

You can choose to apply for different nursing pathways depending on the date you start your Return to Study programme.

This supports applicants who wish to enter any of the nursing pathways starting in either April or September: BSc (Hons)

If you are successful in gaining a place onto one of our nursing degrees, you will be on the path to a successful career as a nurse.

According to the NHS, a nursing degree makes you highly employable. 94% of graduates getting a job within three months of finishing their course.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements. Applicants get assessed on their personal statement. Personal statements must get submitted as part of the application for consideration.

For those wishing to apply for Nursing, acceptance to the degree course is subject to enhanced DBS and Occupational Health clearance.

This programme is free of charge.

We recommend you consider the cost of continuing onto a full-time degree if you have existing financial commitments. You'll need to consider the different modes of study, support, and financial options available.
