The UCLan Teacher Education Partnership offers you the exciting opportunity to study in one of 10 colleges across the North West region and gain a PGCE or Certificate in Education for the 14+ age group. You can study full or part time and we also offer shorter certificate and ‘taster’ courses.
"It’s good to have been able to share experiences in class with other trainee teachers who teach different subjects in different placements."

PGCE and CertEd
UCLan programmes are designed for those wishing to pursue a teaching career in the 14+ education sector. Course are available on full time and part time routes. Please see the course pages for details of the courses available at each college. Whilst these are not school teaching qualifications there are employment opportunities, particularly for teachers of vocational subjects, in some schools as well as many opportunities in the traditional further education sector of colleges, sixth forms and training providers. Both courses are full teaching qualifications that meet the requirements of the professional standards. The PGCE is for honours graduates and the CertEd is for applicants who have a level 3 qualification in their subject.
Introductory courses
Our range of three part-time introductory courses offers a starting point for everyone, whether you just want to find out more about teaching (Preparatory Certificate) or already work as a teacher but do not need a full teaching qualification (Introductory Certificate, Intermediate Certificate). These programmes offer a sound introduction to teaching, giving you an integrated overview of the theory and practice of teaching.
