About the role:
A permanent vacancy has arisen at the University of Central Lancashire’s Preston campus to work within the Security team. The post holder will be required to work 2 x 12 hour days, followed by 2 x 12 hour nights, followed by 4 x rest periods on a rotating shift basis, with flexibility to work as requested by security management, including on other shifts/campuses if required.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that the University and its premises remain as safe and secure an environment as possible, providing a rapid and professional response to incidents, emergencies, and evacuations in accordance with Standard Operational Procedures and policies, whilst putting students first and foremost and providing excellent customer service at all times.
About you:
The successful applicant will have knowledge of security type operations with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Applicants should also be experienced in managing and de-escalating situations calmly whilst maintaining empathy and confidentiality. Candidates will have effective communication skills (face-to-face, via radio, email or in writing); be able to follow verbal and written procedures; have the ability to prepare accurate reports and provide clear information as appropriate. The ability to remain calm in emergency situations; knowledge of Health & Safety and Data Protection Legislation, a valid driving licence (with no more than 3 penalty points and no unspent record of disqualification) and first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain) are also required for this role.
