Job summary

To be responsible for the ongoing availability, maintenance and security of Highfield Priory School’s IT network, hardware and software licences.

Provide operational support for both the business management IT such as Microsoft applications and Sage and for other IT applications and resources used by teaching and non-teaching staff.

Full job description

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Be first point of contact for IT support from all staff escalating calls to the external IT Support Provider if required and acting as a point of contact between end user and escalation points.
  • Ensure systems are enabled and maintained for remote support and access.
  • Custodian of IT business continuity plan.
  • In liaison with third party IT Network Support provider reduce “downtime”.
  • Co-ordinate the network infrastructure management including maintaining active network components, data cabling, data ports and network communications for telephone, print management system, CCTV and door access control.
  • Support existing infrastructure hardware, including routers, firewalls and servers both physical and virtual.
  • Where required work with the stakeholders in the school to plan and implement replacement/new IT applications, hardware or software.
  • Provide support on Office 365 technologies (email, Teams, SharePoint and One Drive).
  • Support IT systems, performing maintenance and ongoing housekeeping activities such as checking backups, system monitoring, software updates, server clean up tasks, ad hoc housekeeping and security, safeguarding and filtering activities.?
  • Installation and support of all IT hardware, desktops, laptops, mobile devices and software as required.
  • Maintain the security of systems and networks within school and any legal requirements such as safeguarding, and data protection.
  • Maintain IT asset and documentation register up to date.
  • Manage the user administration including Active Directory management and synchronisation.
  • Support the teaching staff with Audio Visual equipment including interactive Whiteboards, projectors and the production of digital AV content.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the school website.
  • Contribute to the development, improvement and maintenance of policies, standards and guidelines for the safe use of technology for pupils and staff.

  • Software development abilities preferred
  • An ability to work on your own initiative, to work under pressure and good technical problem-solving skills
  • An ability to work individually and as part of a team and to prioritise workload
  • Ability to identify and provide resolution to issues that jeopardise the level of service
  • Ability to manage resolution of issues from start to finish
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Driving Licence/Own Transport
  • A willingness to learn and undertake further relevant training

An interview will be offered to successful applicants at the SPARK event. This event will be held on our Preston Campus on 27th March 2025.
