As an Apprentice Community Sports Coach, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our community, youth, and school-based sports programmes across the Fylde, Wyre, and Blackpool areas. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, promote active lifestyles, and gain valuable skills in coaching and community engagement.

You'll graduate from this course as a professionally qualified youth worker. You'll learn first-hand how to engage with young people and support them in their personal and social development. By completing this apprenticeship, you'll have a solid foundation of practical experience and academic knowledge, which can help you advance your career.

The role includes the following responsibilities: 

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality sports coaching sessions to a variety of groups in schools, partner rugby clubs, and community settings.
  • Assist in running community sports camps during school holidays, including rugby and multi-sport activities.
  • Provide exceptional coaching within curriculum and after-school programmes throughout the academic year.
  • Contribute to the delivery of community sports initiatives through local outreach and engagement projects.
  • Facilitate dynamic and inclusive youth work sessions in youth club environments.
  • Support Programme Leads and the Operations Manager with the planning, preparation, and evaluation of coaching programmes and activities.
  • Promote participation and inclusivity in all sessions, encouraging positive engagement and enjoyment in sport.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all participants by adhering to safeguarding policies and health and safety procedures.
  • Represent the Foundation at events and community engagements, developing positive relationships with schools, clubs, and local organisations.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on programme outcomes to ensure the continuous improvement of coaching delivery.

Degree Apprenticeship

Youth Work & Community Practice, BA (Hons) - Degree Apprenticeship

BA (Hons)
Gain real-life experience in a youth work setting on our Youth Work & Community Practice Degree Apprenticeship. The course is professionally validated by the JNC (Joint Negotiating Committee).

Considerations

Working Pattern:

You will work 30 hours per week, including a day allocated for study at university as part of the apprenticeship programme. Working hours will primarily consist of morning and afternoon sessions, with occasional evening commitments. Additional hours will be required during school holidays for sports camps, with schedules customised on an individual basis.

Additional information

While a method of transport is desirable to support your ability to travel between locations, it is not initially essential for the role.

Teaching and learning on this programme is delivered at the Burnley Campus.

An interview will be offered to successful applicants at the SPARK event. This event will be held on our Preston Campus on 27th March 2025. You must be registered for this event, with an approved application and be available to attend on this day. Click here for further details SPARK March 2025
