As a MSc Physician Associate Studies student at our Preston Campus, Abi has spent a lot of time looking for the perfect places to study.
1. Library second floor
The Library is the perfect place to go if you like peace and quiet, but you don’t mind a little background noise! My personal favourite place is at the back corner, where there are four singular desks. These desks are out of the way, which is perfect for a little privacy while you study.
There are also rooms on this floor you can reserve which contain a whiteboard and a computer monitor, perfect for group study or more peace and quiet! My personal favourite room is number 23!
2. Greenbank Building study pods
When you first enter Greenbank Building, there are study pods right in front of you. However, my favourite ones are accessed either:
- Through Harrington Building (turn right as you enter and keep walking through the two double doors, they are on your right), or
- Through Greenbank Building's entrance (turn left as you enter the building, and they will be on your next left!)
These pods specifically provide a little more privacy than the others, as they are not directly near the entrance and they are next to a window, letting in more sunlight than the other pods available.
3. The Student Centre
The Student Centre has the perfect balance of background noise while still being able to get work done! There's a brilliant coffee shop, and very comfy seats on the second floor.
My favourite place to sit in here is right next to the coffee shop, where there are little pod seats that are perfectly out of the way and face the window for a little additional sunlight!
4. The seats outside Harrington building
These are perfect for a nice sunny day! They are seated under trees, giving a lovely calming environment, and are perfect for a bit of reading before your classes. These seats provide lots of space for group study too.
5. The bean bags in Harrington
I love these! They are so comfy. You can access them by walking straight ahead when entering Greenbank Building, just down the stairs and to your right!
They're perfectly situated next to a tap where you can fill your water bottle, and they are surrounded by a wall, providing some privacy while you work.
Preston is such a vast campus, and although I’ve given a few places you can have in mind the next time you need a place to work, I strongly recommend exploring the campus yourselves. I know there are many more places to find!
