BA (Hons) Digital Marketing, First Year Student
Olivia has always been a creative person with a love for art and creative writing, she undertook a 2-year Digital Marketing apprenticeship prior to studying at the University of Central Lancashire and is now completing her first year in BA (Hons) Digital Marketing.
Olivia is also the School of Business Enterprising Women’s Groups Inspiring Female Student Award runner up.
Since studying on the course, Olivia gained the confidence to launch her own business specialising as a makeup artist (MUA) and has received the Propeller U-Start Enterprise Award, which supports her in being a young entrepreneur. Olivia was granted a total of £699 to kick-start her career in the makeup industry.
When asked about her experience with Propeller, Olivia said:
“Back in January, I decided to push myself to take part in the Propeller U-Start Enterprise Award. Propeller is a business start-up support group associated with the University of Central Lancashire . The award allows you to bring to life your business idea, or already existing business that you wish to win funding for in order to expand.”
Olivia’s makeup obsession started when she was 14 years old and continued throughout her teenage life after suffering with acne for 7 years. She hopes to help others who suffer with their self-confidence by creating engaging online content in the form of blog posts, YouTube videos and her social media presence. She said:
“I devote a lot of time to my clients and audience, and always want to provide good quality content and advice whilst organising this efficiently around my full-time studies”
Olivia is over the moon to receive the grant from Propeller and sees this as an amazing opportunity to support her small enterprise. The Digital Marketing course has equipped Olivia with the knowledge of the macro-environment in which businesses operate: politically, economically, financially, lawfully and socially.
“The first year of my degree has truly set me up to be more knowledgeable about the business environment. Next year, the physical marketing and promotion of my business will be the focus.”
