Suzanne Simpson
Suzanne teaches a variety of subjects on all of our occupational therapy programmes. Her previous experience as a neuro specialist occupational therapist, team lead and clinical researcher provides further depth of information and practical examples which can be delivered throughout her occupational therapy lectures.
Suzanne teaches in both of our BSc, MSc and Apprenticeship Occupational Therapy programmes either as a module lead or teaching specific sessions within other modules. She provides visiting tutor support to all Occupational Therapy students on their practical placements as well as providing year tutoring for pastoral and academic support.
Suzanne has had a varied 20 year career working predominately in the NHS, but also in private practice. Gaining experience within mental health, learning disabilities, elderly care and acute medical and surgical settings early in her career, she eventually specialised in neurological rehabilitation. Suzanne has extensive experience across the patient pathway working in acute neurosurgery and neurology, neuro rehabilitation units and community neuro rehabilitation teams. Prior to joining the teaching team in March 2024, Suzanne was the team lead of a complex community specialist rehabilitation service.
In addition to her clinical experience, Suzanne has been an active clinical researcher. She completed an MRes in 2018 and has published her work. Her more recent research has focused on access to social prescribing services for people living with neurological conditions and the role of occupational therapy.
