Professor Rhoden joined us in 2023. In his role as Dean, Steven is responsible for the strategic leadership of the School of Business to deliver exceptional outcomes that transform students' lives, and to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders in the private, public and voluntary sectors that power business growth and make a positive impact on the communities we serve.
Steven is President of EuroCHRIE (European Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education). Here, he chairs the EuroCHRIE Board of Directors, and serves on the global Board of Directors of International CHRIE.
He is a Chartered Association of Business Schools Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE), a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA), a Member of the Institute of Travel and Tourism, and a Member of the Institute of Place Management. Steven also serves as a Quality Assessor for the Office for Students.
Steven holds a PhD in transport and tourism. His research interests focus on tourism mobilities, mobile placemaking, cultural tourism, and tourism/hospitality education. He has publications in peer-reviewed academic journals and has presented at international conferences on tourism and transport. He has supervised postgraduate research degree students (MPhil/PhD) to completion in tourism mobilities and destination management.
Prior to his current roles, Steven held academic leadership positions as the Head of Department for Marketing, Retail, and Tourism at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School (2017-2023) and as the Associate Dean for Knowledge Exchange in the Hollings Faculty at Manchester Metropolitan University from 2015 to 2017.
