Dr Stephen Luckhurst
Stephen leads the Professionalism, Wellbeing and Safety (PWS) team for phase 2 of the MBBS course. He has extensive background experience supporting clinicians in practice. He joined us in 2018. He now supports medical students who find themselves experiencing difficulties which may affect their studies.
Stephen's role in the PWS team is to support students across phase 2 and to lead the service. This involves meeting students to discuss wellbeing concerns which may impact their studies. He also provides support and reassurance to students whose professionalism may have been called into question. The team is also available to discuss concerns students may have about others on the course.
Feedback within the school about aspects that may raise concerns for the welfare of other students and stakeholders is also an important facet of his work.
Stephen continues to work in the healthcare industry as a General Practitioner and GP Appraiser. He also has postgraduate education experience from past and current roles at NHS England working with the Appraisals team and the North West Workforce, Training and Education directorate.
Stephen has worked with groups of GPs, Practice teams and individuals to facilitate education and learning within clinical environments.
